You told your friends, your girlfriends included, what was appropriate and what wasn't. You told them when they were and weren't angry with you, and if that didn't sit right with them, they could very well piss off.

Draco's definition of friends, as it had been pointed out to him on multiple occasions, left much to be desired. His methods also didn't seem to work quite as well away from his good name and station.
